Preheat the oven to 450F/230C. Throw the dry stuff in the food
processor* and give it a few spins. Add the shortening and milk. Pulse
it a few times until it starts to look crumby and then spin it until
you’ve got a big-ass lump. Grease a cookie sheet. Split that big-ass
lump into six parts and roll them briefly between your palms to round
the edges a bit before tossing them on the cookie sheet. Bake for about
15 minutes.

*(You can, of course, do this with a mixing bowl and a fork, but I have an ice pack on my shoulder, and that’s not happening.)

You can add about ¼ tsp to ½ tsp of spice to this recipe to give it a
little more flavour or 1-3 T of sugar to make them a little sweeter, and
the milk can be replaced with pretty much anything from water to sour
cream without fucking anything up too badly.

The gravy in the image, though, is 100%
instant gravy from a packet.
