Salad Dressing Shortcuts Submitted by: Thoth | Date Added: 30 May 2022
Ingredients

Let’s talk about salad dressing. The one shown above is:

1/4c olive oil

2T red vinegar

2T lime juice

2T sour cream

1/4t basil

1/4t cilantro

a dash of white pepper

It makes a little more than 1/2c of dressing. More loosely, this can be broken down into:

1/4c oil

2-4T vinegar

(2T citrus juice, if only 2T vinegar)

(2T sour cream or mayo, if you want creamy)

~1/2t dry leaf herbs, where pre-mixed blends are your friend (1/4t if spices or powdered herbs)

Cooking Instructions

Depending on what you pick for each slot, you can get a wide variety of dressings out of the exact same base recipe. The rule of thumb is to put everything in a measuring cup, starting with the thickest or oiliest ingredients and to blend everything else into that, so you don't end up with weird floating lumps.
