Imagine walking your mile to work in the morning in the company of two or three other employees from your sector, planning to get together in the evening for a game of racquetball or a trip to the theatre. You wouldn’t have to worry about who would drive, or how long you’d be delayed by traffic, since you would all be walking distance from all the entertainment the Simon Magus has to offer.
We at GroundLine believe in encouraging the exercise achieved from walking, but that efficiency of transportation is also an important concern, so no office spaces, which are contained in the Production Ring, are more than 1.3 miles from the employee’s apartment. For those employed in the zero-gravity labs, suspended outside the main body of the station, travel is even easier, as shuttle bays can be found approximately every 1,800 feet along the Habitat Ring. Most of the products produced aboard the station and in its external facilities are nano-technical devices to be used in improving the quality of life for our surface-bound brethren.
Research facilities:
Null gravity research and development sites and manufacturing
plants are housed in external pods. With this facility, GroundLine Industries
is poised to become the largest manufacturer of ultra high quality steel
products and semiconductors in the world, or rather just outside of it.
Education:
The Production Ring also houses the station's educational
facilities. We feel that it is important to introduce children to more
of the station's interior so that they will be more self sufficient. For
more on our education policy, see Regulations.
